OVERVIEW

This programme provides participants with practical knowledge and hands-on experience in digital design, visual communication, website creation and AI-powered content development using Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Canva Website and Canva AI. The programme combines design principles, branding fundamentals and AI-assisted tools to help participants create professional-quality digital content for marketing, corporate communication, education and business applications more efficiently and effectively.

 

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand fundamental design principles and apply them in visual communication
  • Apply colour theory, typography, layout and composition techniques in design projects
  • Use Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator for digital content and brand assets
  • Design websites, marketing materials and promotional content using Canva
  • Leverage Canva AI features and effective prompts to generate creative assets
  • Produce digital outputs aligned with organisational and branding requirements

 

COURSE OUTLINE

DAY 1: Design Fundamentals, Photoshop & Illustrator Essentials

 

Module 1: Fundamental Design Principles

  1. a) Introduction to graphic design and visual communication
  2. b) Elements and principles of design for effective content creation
  3. c) Design thinking fundamentals and creative problem-solving
  4. d) Colour theory, colour psychology and branding applications
  5. e) Typography, font pairing, visual hierarchy, layout and composition
  6. f) Branding essentials and consistency in corporate communication

 

Module 2: Adobe Photoshop Essentials

  • a) Workspace, interface overview, layers and core tools
  • b) Photo correction, enhancement, retouching and image optimisation
  • c) Background removal techniques and image preparation
  • d) Designing social media graphics, posters, banners and digital advertisements
  • e) Exporting suitable file formats for digital platforms

 

Module 3: Adobe Illustrator Essentials

 

  1. a) Understanding raster vs vector graphics and Illustrator workspace
  2. b) Shape creation, manipulation and working with paths and objects
  3. c) Pen tool techniques for vector artwork creation
  4. d) Logo development concepts, icon creation and brand asset design
  5. e) Preparing artwork for print and digital output

 

 

DAY 2: Canva Website, Canva AI & Content Creation Workflow

Module 4: Website Creation with Canva

  1. a) Introduction to Canva Website capabilities and use cases
  2. b) Website planning, page structure and content organisation
  3. c) Homepage design, user-friendly layouts and visual consistency
  4. d) Navigation setup, interactive elements and mobile-friendly design practices
  5. e) Publishing, sharing, managing updates and revisions

 

Module 5: Canva AI for Content Creation

  1. a) Understanding AI-powered design tools and benefits in content creation
  2. b) Using Magic Design, Magic Write, AI image generation and AI-assisted Presentations
  3. c) Writing effective prompts for high-quality AI outputs
  4. d) Refining AI-generated content for accuracy, tone and brand alignment
  5. e) Streamlining marketing, communication, brainstorming and ideation workflows

 

DAY 3: Integrated Design Project (Optional / Customisable)

Module 6: Integrated Design Project

  1. a) Practical design challenge combining design principles and creative tools
  2. b) Creation of brand identity assets, marketing collateral and social media content
  3. c) Development of website landing page and AI-assisted promotional materials
  4. d) Presentation of completed projects to demonstrate applied learning
